Rick Springfield Remembers a Young Bon Scott in the Bon Scott Estate Interview Project

Episode two of the Bon Scott Estate Interview Project is out now, and this time Rick Springfield takes us back to where it all started. Long before the world knew the voice of AC/DC, Rick and Bon were young musicians in the late-1960s Australian scene, with their bands competing for the same spotlight.

Before the world knew the voice

Rick remembers the colourful stage outfits, the screaming fans and Bon’s days fronting The Valentines: a young Bon Scott still finding his way, years before the songs that would define an era of rock ‘n’ roll.

Finding his place

He also looks back on the first time he heard Bon with AC/DC, and knowing straight away that Bon had finally found his place, his confidence and that unmistakable sound. As Rick puts it: “He knew who he was. He was confident, finally truly confident in what he was doing.”

About the Interview Project

The Bon Scott Estate Interview Project celebrates Bon’s extraordinary life, music and legacy in his 80th year, through the stories of the people who knew him, worked alongside him and were inspired by him. The series opened with Sammy Hagar, and new episodes keep coming on YouTube.
